The two workshops I will be teaching are: Honing Your Internal Editor and Seven Weeks to Effective Self-Promotion of Your Writing.  Below, you'll find a brief write up on what you can expect from these workshops.

~ Honing Your Internal Editor  ~

An eight week course designed to help the novice to intermediate writer sharpen and enhance their personal editing skills.

Let's face it--hiring an editor to edit your novel will cost you, at a minimum, two hundred dollars.  Learning to enhance and hone your eye to catch everything from the minute to larger technical errors in your work can save you money and rejection slips!

Some of the things we will cover in this workshop are:

• how to pinpoint and eliminate those common grammar errors that slip by you
• tightening your prose by cutting those unnecessary adverbs and adjectives
• Showing Not Telling - Eliminating Passive Prose

~ Seven Weeks to Effective Self-Promotion of Your Writing ~

This seven week course on self-promotion is designed to help the professional, or on the road to professional, writer overcome the intimidating "self-exposure" factor of self-promotion, and to help the author develop various effective, and economical, tricks and tips on the road to successful self-promotion.

Some of the things we will cover in this workshop are:

• The Importance of Self-Promotion in Today's Publishing Industry : Whether small press or a six-figure book deal, today's author is expected to promote their own work to some degree!
• Making Contacts in Your Genre and in The Publishing Industry: While a writer must have talent to sell their work, they must also have contacts in the writing industry and their chosen genre.  Often it is who you know that will lead to submission invites, potential new markets, and a wealth of cross-promotion.
• Design an Easy to Create, Eye-Catching Newsletter
