The Next Big Thing Blog Hop is blazing on Facebook and I was tagged by S.D. Hintz. You can read his entry here. The authors who are tagged answer the same questions about their work in progress then they tag some authors and pass it on. Here we go.

What is the working title of your next book?

Power Play (Anti-Heroes Book 4)

Where did the idea come from for the book?

The idea came from K.H. Koehler and Jerrod Balzer, who were originally going to write the book together. Since Jerrod’s health forced him to take a hiatus from writing, he and Karen didn’t end up getting to do the project.

What genre does your book fall under?

Young Adult

What is the synopsis or blurb for this book?

Get Ready to Root for the Villain…

Serena is the new girl in a school that caters to not just “Norms,” but the sons and daughters of the world’s greatest Superheroes. The problem? She’s the daughter of the Night Witch, a cardinal member of the League of Extreme Evil. She’d love to join the other super teens and prove she isn’t the villain that her mother was, but it isn’t long before she falls in with a group of Supervillains that the school calls the Geek Squad, which includes a biochemically created vampire named Nikki, a genetically altered jock named Isaac, and Jinx, the son of Satan himself!

She’s immediately attracted to Jinx, but Serena has vowed to do what’s right. But there are secrets buried deep within Serena’s past that threaten to kill her, and even rock the foundation of Earth itself! An evil decay is reaching out from a distant star, and the Supers and Geeks will need to work together in order to defeat it–if they can keep from killing each other. The Supers thought the greatest battle for control of Earth had been fought and won, but a cosmic war is coming, and it isn’t long before it’s difficult to tell the difference between hero and villain.

What actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

Crap, I don’t know enough young actors to say. The cast of Glee or something. How’s that?

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

Self-published.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

We’re writing it as a serial, so each part usually takes two to four weeks to write.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

Karen told me about the idea and shared the outline with me. I really liked the characters and story, and I figured it would be a blast to write the book with her, which it has been.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Anti-Heroes is kind of similar to Sidekicks by Jack Ferraiolo. It’s about supervillains rather than superheroes. Our supervillains are the misfits in a high school full of well known superheroes. The superheroes are a bunch of elitist dicks who give our outcasts a hard time. But things get hairy for the supervillains and they just might have to work with the superheroes whether they like it or not. We’ve got a bit of steampunk going on in addition to the superheroes / supervillain stuff. Plus mad scientists, which everyone loves, right?

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

If you like stories that mix up genres and are fast paced, we think you’ll dig Anti-Heroes. The characters are great, though I know I’m biased, and we hope readers enjoy hanging out with them, having adventures, as much as we have. Plus there’s a mad scientist!
