About: Get Ready to Root for the Villain…
Serena is the new girl in a school that caters to not just “Norms,” but the sons and daughters of the world’s greatest Superheroes. The problem? She’s the daughter of the Night Witch, a cardinal member of the League of Extreme Evil. She’d love to join the other super teens and prove she isn’t the villain that her mother was, but it isn’t long before she falls in with a group of Supervillains that the school calls the Geek Squad, which includes a biochemically created vampire named Nikki, a genetically altered jock named Isaac, and Jinx, the son of Satan himself!
She’s immediately attracted to Jinx, but Serena has vowed to do what’s right. But there are secrets buried deep within Serena’s past that threaten to kill her, and even rock the foundation of Earth itself! An evil decay is reaching out from a distant star, and the Supers and Geeks will need to work together in order to defeat it–if they can keep from killing each other. The Supers thought the greatest battle for control of Earth had been fought and won, but a cosmic war is coming, and it isn’t long before it’s difficult to tell the difference between hero and villain.

“Louise Bohmer is clearly an author who has taken the time to plan out the details of the fantasy world in the Witch Twins Saga in her mind. While the author is an expert of her world, the reader may not immediately be. While the book does not just throw the reader in the middle of the action without some sort of explanation of the magical world Claire and Anna live in, it does not detail every aspect of the society. I got a vague idea of some sorts of going-ons, but to really get an idea of what was happening, I had to continue reading. The world slowly opened up to me and it became easier to learn individual’s roles and homelands and histories as the book went on, but they were not the clearest things to understand, especially in the beginning. I feel like more would be explained by reading the second book as well and maybe also rereading the first book.
That being said, the characters are great, especially Claire and Anna, twin sisters. They interact just how sisters do, fighting and arguing, wanting their privacy from one another, but caring for each other at the same time. Their relationship is very believable and realistic. The bond between them is strong and the reader can attach to it and relate to it instantly.”

Witch Wars (Anti-Heroes Book VI) by Louise Bohmer & K.H. Koehler
About: In ANTI-HEROES BOOK VI: WITCH WARS the battle with Mr. Magickal gets intense, and Serena uses her darkness magic, along with spells she’s never used before, to fight him. But Mr. Magickal calls on a new flying minion to help him. Will the Anti-Heroes save the universe in time, or will Mr. Magickal rip apart existence as we know it? Find out in the explosive, exciting conclusion to the Anti-Heroes serial!
Excerpt: As Serena shot out a coil of the Grey and Nikki let her Nix side out, a half dozen cops, along with Jinx, stormed into the hall. The moment Jinx saw the danger at hand, he skidded to a halt, his worn sneakers screeking on the linoleum floor.
“Serena, look out!” he shouted.
A burly copy with a bristly moustache aimed a pistol at her and said, “Step back from the cell, Miss.”
The words barely left his lips before the glass rippled away and Mr. Magickal shot out into the hall. Whips of the ooze that still clung to him shot out, trying to ensnare Serena, Nikki, and Isaac, but the Grey reared up like a shining tidal wave of pure magic and deflected these. More tendrils of Mr. Magickal’s power reached for the cops, winding around their ankles and struggling with them. One cop managed to run from the hall before an inky tentacle ensnared him. Another got off a shot before the ropy tether coiled around his neck and squeezed.
The cop screamed and his eyes bugged manically as he dropped his gun.
Jinx shouted “When will this crazy shit end?” and let his wings unfold as he rose up and shot small fireballs directly at the tentacles.
Serena knew he couldn’t let a massive firestorm go inside the building. It would set the place ablaze in seconds and leave them all in more danger than they were in now. She let the Grey swoop and swirl with him, helping to try and contain Mr. Magickal like a big fist trying to close around a bothersome insect.
Mr. Magickal’s power drained all the cops he caught, leaving the police withered husks as he sucked all their life energy away. He dropped their desiccated corpses to the linoleum floor and moved farther into the hall where Serena and her friends waited, trying to put on a brave front.
Serena related, belatedly and with not a little fear, that she and her friends were the last barrier between Mr. Magickal and complete dominance of the city. Huh, she thought, no pressure!
“Soon, all of you will be inside me too,” he said as he drew nearer. “And what’s left of you all inside of me will witness the death of everything and the birth of a new existence. Isn’t that beautiful? Why resist?”
“I like the universe just the way it is, thanks,” Serena snarled at him. She lifted her hands in a menacing way, the way her mother had once done as she fought the Alliance. “Sure, there’s room for improvement, but you’re being a bit melodramatic.”
Her uncle sneered at her. “I’m a totalitarian kind of guy. You don’t get a say in this matter, Princess.”
More cords of dark magic flew out from Mr. Magickal and they wrapped around the ankles of the flying Nix, trying to pull her down. She screeched and dug her gleaming fangs into the tentacles, gnawing until she was nearly free, but as her adversary was snarling in pain from her attack, another interruption came.
Serena went to help her friend with a shot of the Grey, but the interruption put her off kilter too, and her magic just missed its intended target.
“Hey!” Amber shouted from the end of the hall. “What do you Supervillains think you’re doing? You can’t attack Mr. Magickal! Wait, how’d he get in there? That’s supposed to be Harrison.”
“We have to help him,” Blaine said, appearing beside the daughter of Atlas.
Zack and Zoe came up behind him and their tall, muscular leader. Together, the remaining Supers charged down the corridor toward the Supervillains.
Serena nearly rolled her eyes. “Oh, no way,” she said. “Now is not a good time. And that’s not Mr. Magickal!”
“Whatever,” Zack snapped. “Like we’ll believe anything a Supervillain tells us!”
“Time to rumble!” Blaine brought up his foot, ready to stamp it down and start an earthquake that would likely swallow the whole building.
Serena felt her stomach sink.
She shot out a strong stream of the Grey that slid underneath Blaine, son of the Earthmover, and took his powerful feet out from under him. A pair of Converse sneakers rose up in the air and Blaine let out a “Whooooah, shit!” as he fell on his ass in the center of the hall. The Grey wrapped around him and kept him held tightly in a bubble of magic that wouldn’t allow him to open up a crack in the floor with his earth-shattering stomp.
Before Serena could look back to the battle with her uncle, ropy tendrils slithered around her wrists, feet, and neck. While she was distracted by Blaine, her uncle had taken advantage and seized her tight. Already she could feel him draining her. Her energy and air was sucked away. She choked and struggled in his grasp, feeling sleepier and weaker as his tentacles squeezed.
As everything went black, she heard Jinx say, “We have to help Serena!”
